The flow and cavitation characteristics of cage-type control valves

Cage-type control valves are widely used in process industries, but cavitation can occur when the extreme high-pressure drop and large volume flow rate conditions. In this study, cage-type valve with improved cages is introduced, its characteristics compared other no dead zones regulation process. Two cage numbers four structures studied. Numerical simulations conducted, their accuracy validated using experimental results. Results show that 1 have maximum coefficient intensity under same number. 2 minimum medium intensity. While a intensity, water vapor be reduced by 2–8 times 2. Furthermore, for cages, decrease as number groove height increase.
